Affordable housing continues to perform well with first-home buyers the most active as agents report strong interest and properties selling before auction day.

The updated townhouse at 11 Crick Place, Belconnen, was sold on Friday ahead of its planned auction on Saturday. The price was undisclosed, but said to be around the $650,000 asking price.

Belle Property Canberra selling agent Steph Hoss said the property went to a first-home buyer adding, “It’s great to see these buyers so active in the market.”

Located just minutes away from Belconnen Town Centre, the University of Canberra and Lake Ginninderra, the two-bedroom terrace-style home is on its own title, which added to its appeal.

The accommodation includes a kitchen with gas cooktop, ample stone bench and breakfast bar, and an open-plan living and dining area flowing to a covered outdoor rear courtyard with an al fresco entertaining space and established trees.

The home features raked ceilings that create a sense of space, plus floor-to-ceiling windows, new carpets and ample storage space.

In Chapman, the impressive seven-bedroom family house at 21 Lincoln Close was passed in on Saturday, but Cream Residential’s Jack Wilson said he anticipated the property would sell later on the day or soon after.

Set on a substantial 2255-square-metre block the expansive home provides generously proportioned family living spaces with prized views over Canberra and Black Mountain.

Other features include: a contemporary kitchen with butler’s pantry; an outdoor entertaining area with a kitchen, pizza oven and two barbecues; a temperature-controlled wine cellar; and a self-contained two-bedroom flat.

The imposing property is expected to sell for around $3 million.

On Thursday, the contemporary split-level home at 68 Bindaga Street, Aranda, failed to sell and is now on the market for $1.11 million through Luton Properties’ Tim and Justine Burke.

Situated in a quiet, tree-lined cul-de-sac, this contemporary home offers potential to renovate, to live as is, or to rebuild on its generous, north-facing block of 885 square metres.

Extended over time, the layout suits modern needs with segregated living areas and bedrooms. On entering the home, to the left is a sunken lounge room with full-length windows allowing abundant northerly light to flow through.

The dining room sits adjacent to the kitchen and family area, with both spaces leading out to the backyard.
