Real estate agents from across Canberra were celebrated on Saturday night at the annual Real Estate Institute of the ACT’s Awards For Excellence.
Thirty awards were handed out on the night which recognised agents and property managers from across residential and commercial sales.
Local franchise Independent took home the most awards, winning seven gongs including Large Residential Agency of the Year. Independent managing director John Minns praised the agency for their innovation.
“At the time where the world, the industry and consumers are experiencing the greatest levels of change and transformation ever, it is wonderful to see such a forward-looking, innovative level of practice in the agency,” he said.
En Vogue Property Management won Small Residential Agency of the Year and McGrath Dickson won Medium Residential Agency of the Year.
Commercial Agency of the Year went to Colliers International.
Peta Barrett of LJ Hooker Kippax won Residential Salesperson of the Year, and for the second year in a row Alec Brown of Ray White Canberra was awarded both Auctioneer of the Year and Allhomes People’s Choice Auctioneer of the Year.
REIACT president Michael Kumm said the submissions to this year’s awards were “of the highest calibre”.
“In 1995 the institute held its first awards for excellence and presented nine awards, this year we presented 30 awards,” he said.
“The institute is very proud of the continued growth and evolution of the awards and believes the adaption of existing awards and the introduction of new awards reflect the expectations of both the industry and the public.
“The focus by many agencies on their team performances, while still acknowledging the work of exemplary individuals, is reflected in the number of nominations made by agency principals.”
Almost two-thirds of the award winners will go on to represent the ACT at the Real Estate Institute of Australia National Awards of Excellence in Darwin in April 2020.
