When you first walk into Better Building’s display home in Denman Prospect, you immediately feel at ease. It doesn’t feel like your typical display home.
Behind a striking exterior is a comfortable home featuring luxurious inclusions and a well-designed floor plan.
The home was crowned house of the year at the 2018 Master Builders ACT Building Excellence Awards and is set to make the transition to a family home.
16 Jamrozik Street is now for sale. The five-bedroom home is set across three levels and offers 272 square metres of living.
Better Building collaborated with DNA architects and Sugar Designs to deliver the display home.
“We challenged ourselves with that build,” said Better Building managing director Ivan Juric.
Juric said the overhang of the roof – one of the most significant features – was “very, very difficult” to build from a technical side.
One of the standout features of the home, according to Juric, is the 7.5 energy efficiency rating. He said a lot of work went into the insulation and detailing process to ensure this.
“It will cost next-to-nothing to run and it will feel like the most amazing home when someone moves into it,” he said.
“It’s a really comfortable home and when you walk into it you can tell it’s a real family home.”
Juric said the home is a reflection of him and wife, Isabella.
“When we build a display home, what you see in it is a lot of energy and passion from me and my wife,” he said.
The house of the year award marked the 100th MBA award for Juric, who is all about quality over quantity. In three weeks’ time, the home will be competing at the Master Builders National Excellence Awards.
“Quality is what we do and there’s a lot of work you can’t see in terms of insulation and detailing. It’s not just the cheapest stock you can find, which is what the market is chasing at the moment,” he said.
The home is currently for sale by negotiation, listed by Hayman Partners.
