Johan Esterhuizen is frank when he describes his Macgregor home prior to renovations.

“It was a dump,” he says. “We’ve changed 90 per cent of the house.”

What attracted Johan and his wife Melanie to the property was the size of the home. The four large bedrooms and multiple living areas provided plenty of space for their four children, Kaylene, Charme, Trevor and Joeleigh.

The scale of the house hasn’t changed, but each room has been given a modern makeover.

The 1970s kitchen and bathrooms were updated in modern tones and the kitchen is now the hub of the home with Caesarstone and timber benchtops and ample cupboard space.

The backyard hasn’t been overlooked either and is sure to keep the whole family happy.

In addition to the double garage with workshop space, Johan has built a second double garage with three-metre roller doors for his caravan and four-wheel drive.

Entertainers will love the patio with built-in bar, and the kids will love the cubby house.
