It took all of three weeks and little marketing for Cassandra Thorburn to finally cut all property ties with former husband Karl Stefanovic, selling her Cremorne waterfront house.

The three-level house was intended to be the forever home to the former couple and their three children when she exchanged on it in 2016 for $8 million as a half-built concrete shell, but before Thorburn could take possession of the completed luxury home a year later their marriage had already spectacularly failed.

The sale marks an end to the financial ties between the former couple and comes as their divorce settlement is finalised, ending their 21-year marriage.

Piers van Hamburg, of Di Jones Neutral Bay, was offering the property on the quiet to buyers with a $9 million to $10 million guide ahead of plans to formally hit the market in time for the start of the official spring selling season.

However, sources say it sold Monday evening after negotiations with two buyers for more than the $9 million bottom line to a local family.

Thorburn’s purchase of the contemporary residence from developer Tony Blanche followed the sale of the couple’s Federation family home in Lindfield in late 2016 for $3.8 million.

Stefanovic’s personal life became the stuff of tabloid legend the following year when he married shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough in a lavish ceremony in Mexico and soon after was replaced as host of Nine’s breakfast television show Today.

Mr Van Hamburg declined to reveal the exact sale price.

The three-level residence is set on a north-facing block of 450 square metres with an internal floor plan that includes five bedrooms, formal and informal living areas, an indoor swimming pool, steam room and wine cellar.

There is a boatshed on title and agreement with exchange for a soon-to-be-built jetty.
