There’s no doubt the NSW South Coast will recover from its recent trials by the fires with tourists being encouraged to visit and take advantage of its natural and built attractions.
One of those is Coolendel, a 52-hectare camping, glamping and holiday retreat west of Nowra with a rare position on the banks of the Shoalhaven River and a backdrop of the Morton National Park.
Three families have owned the property for the past 33 years and have developed it into a year-round retreat that’s popular with families, school groups and more.
Accommodation includes campsites, kitchen facilities, two self-contained cabins, a bunkhouse that sleeps 20 and a three-bedroom caretaker’s cottage. There are also male and female showers and toilets.
Roirda Harper of Ray White Gerringong says Coolendel has developed a strong following over the years and enjoys repeat visits.
“It’s an absolutely beautiful location on the river and it’s a firm favourite, especially with families,” she says.
“It’s pretty much booked out at times like Easter.”
Harper says the property could certainly continue in its present form under a new owner, but that it could also potentially become a unique private estate.
“There would also be development potential subject to the usual council approvals,” she says.
Coolendel is 30 kilometres west of Nowra by road.
