You could be forgiven for wanting to escape it all for a piece of paradise where the stresses of the city are swapped for a chilled, coastal lifestyle.
Luna Jervis Bay is a luxurious, fully renovated and character-packed coastal cottage that’s proven itself as a popular short-stay gem.
It’s ideal for sea and tree changers, a young family or perhaps a continuing role as a holiday-let once travel restrictions ease.
The home is nestled in a quiet pocket of Huskisson, just 250 metres to cafes, restaurants, bars and boutique shops. Just around the corner is the cutest little retro movie theatre you will ever see. And it’s just a 500-metre walk to the inviting, aqua-clear waters of Jervis Bay.
This charming cottage is bounded by a white picket fence, is topped and tailed by shady verandahs and backs onto the sanctuary of a national park.
Sip a morning coffee to a natural soundtrack of kookaburra laughter or enjoy sunset drinks while kangaroos graze.
The cottage has been extensively renovated and offers cosy, open-plan living with cathedral ceilings and clerestory windows that draw in an abundance of natural light.
Owners Jeana and Lincoln O’Toole bought what was a dilapidated fibro shack in 2018.
“We live on the South Coast and know it quite well, but we were on a drive, took a wrong turn and there it was,” Jeana says.
“It had good bones and we felt we could bring it to life with the feel of a 1950s-style beach shack – but with all the conveniences of contemporary living.”
Builder Lincoln put his skills to work as Jeana developed the overall vision, and within six months Luna Jervis Bay was unveiled.
“It took off virtually straightaway with a presence on many online platforms,” Jeana says.
“Bookings have been consistent, occupancy high and there are many repeat visitors who just love the vibe of the cottage and what Huskisson offers.”
The no-fuss floor plan offers two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining and living space and a central bathroom.
Guests or homeowners enjoy all the creature comforts in the custom kitchen with an integrated fridge, dishwasher and microwave.
The generous bedrooms comfortably sleep two couples – Luna Jervis Bay has been positioned as a getaway for adults.
Guests enjoy the luxe bathroom with its deep, free-standing tub and wall-hung vanity with bling tapware, and there’s plenty of space in the large shower.
There’s a garden shed to store the toys and an outdoor shower for a welcome rinse after a day at the beach.
Able Walsh of One Agency Elite Property Group Shoalhaven says the home has proven itself with high occupancy and repeat business.
“It’s beautifully presented and offers a luxurious getaway within one of the most popular holiday spots on the South Coast,” he says.
“A potential buyer could live in it and enjoy the lifestyle or maintain it as a holiday let.”
Walsh says the big 949-square-metre block offers plenty of further development potential.
