Buyers are drawn to Belconnen's big blocks and broad choice.

Belconnen remains a favourite location among a wide range of buyers looking for value and lifestyle.

Tammy Bush of Independent Inner North & City said she believes convenience and amenity rate highly as drivers drawing people to the region.

“I’ve just bought within Belconnen myself – its easy accessibility and the presence of just about everything you need make it a compelling proposition,” she said.

“Local and town centre shops are readily available and there’s plenty of recreational opportunities for exercise or to walk your dog.”

Bush said Belconnen is also well-serviced with education opportunities up to tertiary level along with a range of medical services.

“Its relatively central location also makes it easy to get to the Canberra CBD and to other regions,” she said.

“And we’re seeing a level of revitalisation, particularly around the town centre that’s bringing in more people and hospitality options.”

Tim McInnes of Timothy Road said Belconnen, as an older, established region, typically offers larger block sizes with strong appeal to a range of demographics.

“We have buyers from the Inner North, perhaps those with young families, who see value in moving to a home on a larger block size,” he said.

“And we also see older buyers from the country, like retiring farmers, who want to move closer to amenities and services, but who aren’t ready for a compact block. Belconnen’s bigger block sizes strongly appeal to them, too.”

  • Blocks: Belconnen, one of Canberra’s longer established regions, is characterised by larger block sizes that can often exceed 1000 square metres. These have strong appeal among young families and country buyers.
  • Choice: There is a wide range of dwelling types and price points. New unit and townhouse developments draw in first-home buyers and downsizers, while there is plenty of family home choice.
  • Lifestyle: Local shopping centres abound while the Belconnen town centre has plenty to offer. Then there are amenities like Lake Ginninderra. And you can’t go past Belconnen’s recreational, educational and medical options.
