Conjure up an image in your head of what you think the iconic Canberra view would look like. Would the Telstra Tower appear in there, steadfastly sitting atop Black Mountain? Maybe Mount Ainslie is there too? Perhaps the instantly recognisable outline of Parliament House, the prominent flagpole rising proudly above it?
At certain times of day, the gushing Captain Cook Memorial Jet might peak into the picture. Or, of a morning, hot air balloons might gently float in and out of view.
Whatever is coming to mind, you can probably glimpse all of it from the living room of 24 Endeavour Street in Red Hill.
The stunning property offers six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and generous open-plan living spaces, set over two levels, plus room for four cars.
While the home itself was built back in 2003, a recent renovation has given the whole property a facelift from top to toe, with brand new carpet and bathrooms, fresh paint and updated lighting.
From the circular driveway, enter through double doors to the upper level with high ceilings where there are two bedrooms tucked behind both formal and casual main living spaces. Downstairs, you’ll find four more bedrooms, the main bathroom, and an impressive home theatre and modern laundry.
Back upstairs again, the upgraded kitchen features a large stone island bench, a Miele gas cooktop and oven, a semi-integrated dishwasher and a butler’s pantry.
Also up there, and really making the most of the home’s elevated position in Red Hill, is the spacious main living area. It’s a peaceful spot for relaxing with family and friends, and the cathedral ceiling arches create plenty of vertical height.
But it’s the huge, full-height picture window down one end that is the real showstopper. It means one whole wall of the living room hosts an ever-changing snapshot, with private treetop views over the best of Canberra.
“You can see Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, Parliament House. When the [Captain Cook Memorial Jet] is at full flight, you can see it clearly as well,” says selling agent Luke McAuliffe from MARQ Property.
“It’s just incredible. And you can see it not only from the living space but the entertaining deck out to the right of the living space as well.”
The ample windows mean the room is often bathed in natural light, particularly during the cooler months. And step through a glass door to that entertaining terrace, which is wrapped in a glass balustrade ensuring none of the view is obscured.
On the other side of the living room, and just off the informal dining area, you can step outside to another elevated terrace with an impressive outlook and a shade sail to keep you protected on warm summer days.
And there’s plenty of wow going on in the rest of the house too. While there are six bedrooms, none of them are just making up the numbers. There are two separate main bedrooms, each as impressive as the other. On the entry-level, the main has dramatic high ceilings, both built-in and walk-in wardrobe, an en suite and an external door.
Downstairs, the other main is flooded with natural light and also palatial in proportions, with soaring ceilings, both walk-in and built-in robes, and a luxury en suite with a freestanding bath, shower and dual basins. Alongside it, a third bedroom also boasts an en suite and direct access to an outdoor terrace. The fourth and fifth bedrooms each have built-in robes.
The sixth bedroom is well-suited as a study, and the separate external access down the left-hand side of the property means it could easily be set up as a home office or studio.
The driveway snakes down alongside the home, leading to a double garage that’s neatly hidden underneath it all, with internal access and workshop space. Alongside it is an additional double carport. On the rest of the block you’ll find low-maintenance gardens, plus there’s extra room for parking on the driveway.
The home is kept comfortable with both ducted gas heating and zoned ducted reverse cycle air conditioning, while there is also a security system with external cameras.
McAuliffe says it’s a very versatile floorplan that would suit a wide range of buyers.
“It’s a really impressive home, just the space of it, and with two separate masters. And having the master on the entry-level, it really opens it up to multi-generational families as well, as you may have grandparents living there that need to enter without too many stairs. And plenty of garages whether it be for a hobbyist or extended families,” he says.
“But I think the major thing is just having those uninterrupted views, and they won’t be interrupted.”
