Throughout lockdown, on very minimal sleep, I would drive around Canberra of an afternoon, attempting to get my then-8-month-old to have a nap.
We were sleep training at the time and that was often the only way I could get her to have some shut-eye toward the end of the day.
One particular area I was drawn to time and time again was Whitlam. Once she was asleep, I would stop at Coppins Crossing to watch the Molonglo River gush past. Then I would drive to the top of the suburb and take in the views of the surrounding nature reserves.
I was exhausted and feeling the effects of being stuck at home with a young baby. But being out there was nothing short of rejuvenating. I felt like I could breathe.
So, to find out that there will soon be a development set in this stunning bushland locale in Whitlam, it’s safe to say I’m envious. No matter what’s happening in the world, waking up to such a view will give hope for better days to come.
Agent Jason Roses of Verv Property says the collection of 23 luxury two, three and four-bedroom garden townhouses is named Acacia as it was inspired by the native acacia wattle.
The homes “draw upon urban architecture with a striking facade and warm, contemporary interior finishes” he says.
“The impressive contrasting exteriors serve to deliver a fresh and modern architectural design to the Molonglo Valley, blending blissfully into its surrounding native setting.”
The thoughtfully designed residences range from 98-square-metre terrace-style homes to large 200-square-metre, four-bedroom townhouses.
They offer a range of flexible floor plans with open-plan living areas, self-contained studios – both attached and detached – home offices and breathtaking rooftop terraces, alongside indoor and outdoor entertaining options.
“Acacia celebrates interiors and colour schemes which are light and warm, set upon an inviting palette that complements the contemporary features,” Roses says.
“Featuring high-end inclusions such as double-glazed windows, engineered timber flooring, Astra Walker kitchen mixers, Franke appliances, smart stone benchtops and designer vanity units, Acacia is a true stand out.”
But best of all, in my opinion, it’s positioned amid public parks and open spaces, with no neighbouring development.
“I’d say it’s one of the best blocks in the entire suburb of Whitlam, with reserve on three sides, sweeping views on all sides and north-facing frontage,” Roses says.
“The views towards Telstra Tower at the front and Molonglo at the rear are truly something special. You’re surrounded by bike paths and incredible walking trails.
“When you think of premium location you don’t get better than this.”
The expected completion is the end of 2023.
