Calling all car enthusiasts: House up to 15 vehicles in this Googong property

For the car enthusiast looking for somewhere to put 15 vehicles – or, more realistically, for those who can only dream of that – this property may fulfil all your car-tinkering dreams.

The five-bedroom house at 159 Fernleigh Drive, Googong, has many features, but the most interesting is a multilevel garage measuring at 600 square metres.

Selling agent Campbell Jones of Blackshaw Manuka said the majority of the interest so far had come from people looking for space and ample vehicle accommodation.

“Set on over 30 acres, there is plenty of room for kids to play, ride motorcycles or horses, or for someone who has loads of vehicles for business or personal purposes,” he said.

“The car enthusiasts out there will really love it, we rarely see such a well- and purpose-built facility to maintain and store cars like this.”

The sellers of the property built the shed and a one-kilometre driveway that runs past the house, around the shed and down to the stables.

The shed itself contains a fully plumbed car-wash area and two electric car hoists, and has enough room to house any kind of vehicle, including large trucks.

“The shed also has a great security system set up, with cameras and motion sensors that can alert you through an app on your phone,” Jones said.

“There is also 34 kilowatts of solar on the roof … one of the biggest domestic systems we have ever seen.

“It was built by the current owner, who is a car enthusiast through and through, [and] who has just sold their automotive business in Canberra. The shed was the perfect place for them to tinker with their own cars and projects.”

Another standout feature of the home is the panoramic vista that spans as far as Lake Burley Griffin, Parliament House and Telstra Tower. The sellers say this makes the home a perfect place to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks.

In the main living area is a feature wall containing airbrushed artwork which was there before the owners moved in. Its origins remain a mystery, Jones said.

The living areas inside the home itself have high, raked ceilings and a large modern kitchen, while the outdoor entertaining features include a pizza oven and an in-ground, solar-heated pool.

“It’s perfect for a large family or even extended family, with a self contained flat too,” Jones said.
