Canberra's best real estate agents celebrated at the 2022 REIACT Awards for Excellence

Canberra’s real estate industry came together on Friday night to celebrate their achievements in a year unfettered by the pandemic or federal election at the Real Estate Institute of the ACT’s Awards for Excellence. 

Agencies and agents were acknowledged throughout the night, as 28 awards recognised achievements of all kinds. 

“This year, there were 118 submissions over 23 categories for our Awards for Excellence, which is the most we’ve ever received in the 28-year history of the awards,” said REIACT President Hannah Gill. 

“I would like to congratulate all our winners and also commend all the finalists. The record number of submissions this year is a testament to their standard of professionalism and how important these awards are to our nominees.

“We must also recognise our Auctioneering Chapter with 10 entrants in our Auctioneer of the Year and Novice Auctioneer of the Year categories.” 

Taking out the award for Residential Salesperson of the Year on the night was Jess Smith of Stone Gungahlin. Independent Property Group won the Large Residential Agency of the Year and Marketing and Communications Award and Blackshaw Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra took home the Small Residential Agency of the Year award.

Alec Brown of Ray White Canberra won the award for Auctioneer of the Year, with Bianca Way of home.byholly taking out Novice Auctioneer of the Year and Jonny Warren of Jonny Warren Properties winning property marketer of the year – just to name a few.  

Guy Randell of Burgess Rawson Canberra and Alec Brown of Ray White Canberra were inducted into the REIACT Hall of Fame for Commercial Salesperson of the Year 2019, 2020 and 2021, and Auctioneer of the Year 2018, 2019 and 2021 respectively. 

Out of all the winners from the night, 18 will represent the ACT at the REIA National Awards for Excellence, to be held in Perth in March 2023. 

Domain’s chief executive officer Jason Pellegrino travelled down to Canberra for the proceedings, and spoke on the night.

“Awards like these are important for recognising achievements… thank you all for the extraordinary year you have had, given the circumstances,” he said.

“As I think about the shared experiences we have had, and the issues, we have been united at a suburb, regional, national and international level.

“Everyone in this room is working in businesses that have been on extraordinary journeys in the past year.”
