Liveability and environmental sustainability are at the forefront of the design for Braddon’s St. Arbour Residences.
Marketed as Canberra’s first battery-powered residential development, one only needs to do some light research to uncover that’s only the beginning of the many sustainable elements on offer in this collection of outstanding townhomes.
Tucked away in a private cul-de-sac are just 10 handcrafted three-bedroom residences where position, location and sustainability have been placed at the forefront of every decision. They’re luxurious, easy to live in and simply better for the environment.
The name St. Arbour was inspired by both the environment and the location.
The development boasts many green elements, including a parkside location and garden atrium, along with the environmental initiatives.
“This is where the connection to arbour is derived,” says agent Will Honey of Independent Tuggeranong.
“Being located in the cultural hub of Canberra, Braddon, the saint in St. Arbour pays homage to the name of several streets in Williamsburg, New York, which is renowned for being the epicentre of cool and hipster.
“So the name is a coming together of both elements.”
Built by Canberra-based Decca Building Group, the end result will be a community of like-minded neighbours who share in a common understanding that doing their part for the planet starts at home.
“From solar power panel systems, car-charging stations and grey water recycling, to electric bikes and ‘wicking bed’ communal vegetable gardens, there are a number of initiatives that residents can select to engage with,” says Honey.
For reference, wicking beds involve a way of growing vegetables that is more efficient with water usage compared to traditional methods.
“Partnering with Natural Solar & Sonnen [the world’s leading battery storage company] has allowed us to offer a residential development that is forward-thinking and at the forefront of boutique development sustainability in Canberra,” he adds.
“Residents at St. Arbour will save money, save water and do their part for the environment without compromising on luxury.”
The strategic position of St. Arbour will allow all residences to take advantage of the north solar orientation and gives owners the option of either direct street frontage or picturesque park frontage.
As for the homes themselves, the floor plans are large and highly practical with a choice of two designs. One boasts open-plan living, while the other offers something more formal, featuring two separate living areas.
“Again, drawing inspiration from the immediate environment, the design incorporates natural materials, tones and finishes,” Honey says.
“Two finishes boards were hand selected by award-winning Sydney designer, CRD Luxury Interiors. Bold earthy tones and soft natural colour palettes are being used to create a modern feel that is striking yet very practical.”
Expected completion is the third quarter of 2021.
