Tucked in next to the eastern edge of Civic is Reid, one of Canberra’s oldest suburbs.

It’s home to Canberra’s oldest church – St John the Baptist Church – as well as the tertiary training facility, Canberra Institute of Technology.

Reid’s earliest houses were constructed to house government officials relocating to work in the new nation’s capital, and it boasts the city’s largest heritage housing precinct.

Meanwhile, the western edge of the suburb has been given a modern facelift, with the heritage Bega Flats replaced with a brand new high-density development.
