Coming to Queanbeyan at the end of the year is a new development that is taking big strides toward an environmentally friendly property market. Mindfully designed to take townhouse living to another level, the development of just eight homes is Eco by name and eco by nature.
Eco in Queanbeyan is a boutique complex of three and four-bedroom townhouses built to create eco-friendly homes that celebrate sustainability. How are they doing this, you ask? George Nikolic of inStyle Estate Agents has the answer.
“A local builder from Canberra thought he’d take townhouse living to another level by incorporating eco-friendly components,” Nikolic explains.
“We’re looking at using all eco-friendly products such as low-emission paints and organic carpets glued together with corn syrup, and the joinery uses a product without poisonous glues in it.
“There is double glazing, which is more standard at the moment, solar panels with battery back-up, and when it comes to insulation, they’re putting in the maximum that you can using the cavity spaces it has, so the insulation value is increased.”
If you’re reading this assuming an environmentally conscious build comes at the expense of new-home luxuries, don’t be fooled because Eco has it all. Within the homes, you’ll find that the bathrooms have underfloor heating, each main bathroom features a bathtub, the kitchens are fitted with Franke electric kitchen appliances on Caesarstone benchtops, and there is visitor parking on-site for added convenience.
“It’s great because you’re not sacrificing the overall look of the townhouses, but instead being more mindful in the approach to building them. For residents, knowing you are living in an environment that is friendly to your wellbeing is good for you mentally and your [physical] health,” Nikolic says.
Each home also comes with a fully enclosed and landscaped courtyard, placed amongst low maintenance and laid-back grounds.
“While there aren’t communal areas, with this particular townhouse development, it’s all low-maintenance and easy living. When you drive in, it’s nicely landscaped, giving residents a nice, tidy development to live in,” he says.
Located mere minutes from the CBD, Eco also boasts a convenient location within Queanbeyan and its proximity to community amenities. It joins a handful of other new developments in the area, such as Lilly Lane and Sotherby Lane, each taking advantage of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council’s efforts to improve the town.
“Eco is only a five-minute walk from the CBD, and it’s just off Canberra Avenue, so it’s easy to get in and out of Queanbeyan,” says Nikolic.
“The tennis courts are nearby, along with the park and the Queanbeyan Showgrounds. The proximity and location are fantastic in that you can walk to all these areas.”
Eco is eligible for first-home buyer government incentives, but don’t hesitate as only three townhouses remain for sale.
The development is slated for completion at the end of the year.
