The 1914 Federation-style occupies pride of place in the main street.

Bombala’s historic post office has been serving the local community for more than a century and is now looking for a new lease of life under its next owner.

The 1914 Federation-style building with a distinctive red brick exterior occupies pride of place in the main street.

The building is well maintained and comprises a showroom, counter area, back office, kitchen, front and rear sorting rooms, storeroom and office.

Craig Schofield of One Agency says the property could prove a smart investment by itself, but there is also an opportunity to buy the post office business.

“Someone looking to relocate to the country might see strong appeal in an opportunity to buy a property and an established business,” he says.

“That would provide a buyer with the security of a bricks-and-mortar purchase and a sustainable business income.”

The postal business conducts local rural mail runs and hosts private PO boxes. The retail shop is fully stocked and offers products and services such as insurance, passport applications and renewals, police checks, money transfers, foreign currency exchange and gift cards.

There’s a further income stream through a space leased to Services Australia that principally provides Medicare and Centrelink services.

Bombala is located on the Bombala River and is perfectly positioned between Canberra, the Snowies and the beautiful Sapphire Coast.
