It’s one of Canberra’s oldest suburbs, but Campbell in the Inner North has undergone quite the glow-up. One side is a maze of tree-lined streets with family homes boasting leafy views that belie their city fringe location.

The other end is a constantly evolving hub of new development and high-density living. Wherever you live, you have restaurants, bars and shops close by, either at the original Campbell shops or in the modern Campbell 5 Precinct.

Lake Burley Griffin is a stone’s throw away, while Canberra Airport is a mere five kilometres down the road.

Eat & drink

Campbell is a foodie’s paradise. Start your day with coffee and a moreish brunch at Teddy Picker’s, or pop by for a cosy jaffle and coffee at Intra.

Then there’s pub fare at The Pedlar, wood-fired goodness at Department of Pizza, or authentic Japanese flavours at Maji. Newbie Peonee serves  a set menu designed around what’s best on the day. Or settle in for sleek South-East Asian cuisine at Lanterne Rooms or refined French dining at Les Bistronomes. And that’s just scratching the surface.

See & do

Campbell is home to one of the capital’s most popular attractions: the Australian War Memorial. A wander through the magnificent building and its exhibitions is always a moving experience.

From here, you can head up Mount Ainslie via one of Canberra’s most iconic walks. It’s always steeper than you remember, but the views at the top are worth the effort.

Afterwards, treat yourself to a purchase from the curated collection of shoes and fashion at Sissa Sorella Collection, or give your eyebrows some love at Alchemy Beauty Lab.
