Hugging the south-east corner of Lake Burley Griffin is Kingston, an exciting suburb filled with restaurants and cafes, boutique shops, and plenty of green spaces.

While it’s one of Canberra’s oldest suburbs, these days it’s home to many townhouse and unit developments, particularly along the trendy Kingston Foreshore, making it one of the capital’s most densely populated suburbs.

There’s easy access to the Parliamentary Triangle, Civic, and some of the city’s top schools. It’s also home to Canberra’s only railway station.

Eat & Drink

Whatever your budget is or whatever it is you’re craving, there’s something to keep everyone happy in Kingston. Indulge in fine dining at Otis Dining Hall or Pomegranate Restaurant.

Gather over shared plates and wine at Onzieme. Settle in for drinks and a pub meal at Walt and Burley or The Dock.

Linger over coffee and lazy brunches at Muse Canberra or Penny University. Enjoy Canadian hospitality at Caribou, or authentic Italian at Agostinis. Or wrap your hands around a Brodburger.

See & Do

On Sundays, head to the Old Bus Depot Markets to shop handcrafted homewares and tasty treats from local artisans.

Next door, see glass artists create beautiful pieces at the Canberra Glassworks. Or make the most of Lake Burley Griffin, and enjoy one of the prettiest views of Canberra, with GoBoat. Departing from the Kingston Foreshore, the electric boats are perfect for a picnic and you don’t even need a boat licence.
