Fisher home sells in less than 24 hours and sets new suburb record at $1.65 million

April 20, 2022
The latest sale in Fisher beat the previous suburb record by $10,000.

Twenty four hours. That’s how long a four-bedroom house in Fisher was on the market before it sold for $1.65 million, setting a new record for the suburb along the way.

This isn’t the first time the property at 22 Kalgoorlie Crescent has been on the market, according to selling agent Anish Sebastian of Confidence Real Estate.

Mr Sebastian said it had previously passed in at auction at $1 million under a different agency.

“When we listed it on Tuesday, we had 28 inquiries from our database itself and then eventually, we had a strong offer come through that the sellers couldn’t turn down,” he said.

“The eventual buyer was an interstate family who’ll be moving to Canberra soon. They were actively looking for a house for more than two months.

“We showed them through three other properties around Canberra but it didn’t tick their boxes and when this home went live, they were willing and able to pay that premium price.”

The property featured a gourmet kitchen with a three-metre stone island bench and walk-in pantry. It also had 10-kilowatt solar panels and a covered outdoor entertaining space.

Mr Sebastian was confident the property would set a record for Fisher, even though the property was much smaller than the house that set the previous residential benchmark for the suburb.

“We were 100 per cent confident. It’s in our name,” he said.

The six-bedroom house at 4 Hamersley Place sold for $1.64 million in December and spanned more than 1200 square metres of land. It also had a pergola and a swimming pool. This latest sale surpassed that by $10,000.

“This house was on about 700 square metres of land … which just goes to show the level of demand there is at the moment,” Mr Sebastian said.

“People will spend money on the right property. Given the market has slowed a little bit, this hasn’t stopped those with budgets upwards of $1 million. It’s still active and the demand hasn’t stopped.”

Government records show the house last transacted in 2018 for $500,000.
