One of Canberra’s newest suburbs, Strathnairn, will release 53 residential blocks this week which will be sold via ballot.
Ranging from 455 square metres to 1.275 hectares, the blocks will be priced from $337,700.
Dubbed “Straithnairn Rise”, the blocks form the final release of land in the second stage of the Ginninderry development.
“After many years of planning, the initial stages of Ginninderry are taking shape,” said Ginninderry project director Steve Harding.
Strathnairn is the first suburb of Ginninderry, Canberra’s newest cross-border region, wedged between Holt and west Macgregor and extending towards Ginninderra Falls.
The region will eventually comprise of four suburbs, three in the ACT and one in NSW. About 6500 homes will be within the ACT border and 5000 in NSW.
“Many residents are now settled in their new homes and a genuine community spirit has developed,” said Mr Hardy.
“Now is a great time for those considering land to take a look at how we’re doing things differently.”
Upon completion, 30,000 people are expected to call Ginninderry home.
Mr Hardy said the blocks on offer boasted views towards the Brindabellas and bordered the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor, the largest open space in Ginninderry.
While the views were set to take centre stage for the blocks, Mr Hardy said the Community Recreation Park – expected to be completed in 2021 – was a key feature of the second stage.
“The 2.7-hectare park will deliver incredible amenity for residents including recreation areas, walking trails, modern playgrounds, barbecue spaces and an impressive amphitheatre,” he said.
“We’ll also have mixed-use courts for basketball, netball and soccer along with cricket nets, and all of that sits alongside the vast natural amenity offered by existing conservation areas that are such a feature of the area.”
Under the federal government’s HomeBuilder package, new buyers will be eligible for the $25,000 grant to build a new home and the ACT government’s stamp duty waiver for single residential blocks.
Registrations for the ballot will close on October 12 with block selection scheduled for October 31.
