Gungahlin, or “Gunners” as locals refer to it, is Canberra’s northernmost region. Its name derives from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘little rocky hill’, and this area enjoys its share of natural beauty.

It features picturesque waterways such as Yerrabi Pond, Gungahlin Pond and Ginninderra Creek, and is bordered by Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve.

Designed with plentiful green space, Gunners continues to attract home buyers from all walks of life thanks to its diverse mix of houses, townhouses and apartments. The district also offers a wide range of schools and facilities including the light rail and a soon-to-be-built cinema.

“For the past 10 to 15 years, Gungahlin has been an ever-growing region and only now has it realised its potential,” said James Herbert of LJ Hooker Project Marketing.

“With all the infrastructure that has come up there, the town centre especially thriving in recent years, I would say it’s now a matured region with a groove of its own. It offers a modern and dynamic lifestyle.”

Other drawcards to the northern region are the charming villages and museums that lure tourists from all over the country, such as the remnants of Ginninderra Village – which has a history of specialty arts and crafts and hospitality – and Gold Creek Village, a graceful small-town hub of restaurants, cafes and galleries.
