Buyers who like the thought of hillside living with views that go on forever likely won’t find better choices beyond the Tuggeranong Valley.
Geology has been kind to the region, and vistas can be enjoyed from just about anywhere, but they get even better with elevation.
Mark McCann of McCann Properties agrees Tuggeranong is blessed with choice.
“Fadden, the Wanniassa hills and the top of Kambah around Sulwood Drive, have top views and are considered highly desirable home locations,” he says.
“There has been strong buyer interest, and their price growth is reflecting that.”
McCann says some hillside homes have seen increases of 30 per cent in the last year or so.
“There’s been strong interest from family home buyers, both locally and interstate,” he says.
“And there are also local upgraders and buyers who see Tuggeranong delivering greater value beyond the Woden Valley.”
Brenden Blewitt of Blewitt Properties says Calwell, Theodore, Condor, Lanyon and Banks also offer great hillside living options.
“It’s actually harder not to find a view in the valley – perhaps the challenge is finding the one that really hits all the hot buttons,” he says.
“And a home needs to match up in a number of other ways beyond just the vistas.”
Blewitt says buyers value block size, and valley homes can be located on sites of up to 1500 square metres.
“It’s a winning combination when you add an outdoor living area that takes in the views,” he says.
Hillside living is at its finest in this split-level Fadden residence that enjoys absolutely stunning mountain views.
And it has made the best of its sought-after, elevated location with plenty of space for the modern family through five bedrooms, three bathrooms, and multiple living areas over 235 square metres.
A formal entry provides a sense of arrival, enhanced by high ceilings that draw in the light. The core zone comprises a formal lounge with a fireplace and an open plan dining, family and kitchen space that leads onto the deck.
The kitchen features Miele appliances and includes plenty of storage and a breakfast bar that takes in magnificent mountain views. This level also provides a formal dining space, and there’s also a guest bedroom with an ensuite.
The other side of the entry foyer leads up to a study/fifth bedroom and a generous rumpus and bathroom. This zone leads to the next level and three more bedrooms, including the main with an updated ensuite and walk-in robe.
Year-round comfort is provided through reverse-cycle, ducted heating and cooling throughout. There’s a gas wall furnace in the family room and that fireplace in the lounge, while solar panels help manage energy costs. There’s a double carport and further parking options.
This home has all the space you could need, but the hero is its outdoor aspect and those stunning, never-ending views.
