Long Beach, on the South Coast of NSW, is all about getting away from it all.

While elsewhere along the coast you’ll find charming towns with buzzing cafes and shops and crowded sandy strips, Long Beach is tucked away and known by those who love the area for its quiet beaches, secluded spots and leafy walking tracks.

Perched on a cliff top overlooking the beach itself is 17 Fauna Avenue, a sophisticated and newly renovated holiday home.

The block’s original house was recently gutted, with only the brick exterior left standing. Inside the updated home, everything is practically brand new, with a reinvigorated floor plan split across two levels.

Step inside to the main level, where one side hosts an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area and a powder room.

Tucked behind are two bedrooms, each with built-in wardrobes and en suites, effectively creating two main suites.

Downstairs, two more bedrooms share a larger bathroom, alongside a galley-style laundry.

What really sets the home apart is its high-end finishes, which were prioritised in the renovation. The resulting vibe is less like a low-key coastal getaway and more like a glamorous, luxury hotel.

The kitchen blends marble benchtops, modern cabinetry and gold accents, with a huge island bench perfect for entertaining or feeding a crowd. In the bathroom, vanity lighting and heated flooring bring an extra level of comfort.

“And there’s no carpet,” says agent Megan Goucher from My Agent Team. “Floorboards run all the way through. So it just gives that really low-maintenance holiday kind of vibe.”

There’s also plenty of space on the block. “You’ve got a great yard so you can fence that in for the dogs or the kids, and there’s plenty of room for a trampoline,” Goucher says. “You’ve also got side access for a boat or a caravan or just additional parking.”

While the home feels far away from the hustle and bustle, everything you need is still conveniently close. From the front door, it’s just over 300 metres to the beach, with plenty of walking tracks around.

When you do need to head into town, it’s just a short drive over the bridge into Bateman’s Bay.

And then there are those sweeping views. Sitting on the premium strip of Fauna Avenue, the home makes the most of its impressive elevated coastal aspect.

From the living spaces, sliding doors open onto a large hardwood deck that captures the magic of the area – a canopy of trees, a chorus of birds and the sights and sounds of the waves lapping down below.

“The house is just the epitome of the word ‘escape’,” Goucher says.
