Sitting on more than 9500 square metres of land is 69 Burradoo Road, Burradoo.

An iconic art deco-style property in Burradoo has hit the market and will satiate heritage hunters looking for a slice of history and charm.

Sitting on more than 9500 square metres of land is 69 Burradoo Road, or Glengarry as it’s affectionately known.

The c1937 house was designed by renowned architect Charles Dellit, a pioneer in the art deco style who is most famously known for his work on the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park, Sydney.

The house has an iconic art deco style.

“Dellit was very acclaimed in his day,” said selling agent Karl Zabel of Dunne Southern Highlands.

“[Glengarry] is a very gracious, well-proportioned home that’s beautifully orientated to the north. It’s a very large lot in Burradoo with an elevated position.”

The main house has an impressive entryway and an open-plan kitchen that boasts modern appliances, a large island bench perfect for feeding crowds, and doors that open to a terrace, an ideal place to entertain throughout the seasons.

A terrace that's perfect for entertaining.

The dining and living spaces bring in a wealth of natural light thanks to the oversized arched windows. A fireplace will be a welcome addition come winter.

The five bedrooms are all located on the first floor and have high ceilings, decorative wallpaper and views that will leave a lasting impression on visiting family and friends.

The property also has a self-contained three-bedroom cottage for guests or extended family, as well as a charming one-bedroom art studio with its own kitchenette and bathroom.

A lush garden retreat.

Seller Liz Morrow has called Glengarry home, sweet home for the past two years but is now ready for someone else to make it their own.

“It was perfect for us, my three kids and their partners during the pandemic,” she said.

A wealth of light comes through beautiful archways.

“We moved here from Sydney and once we settled in, it felt like we could breathe [on the property]. It was private even though you knew people were on either side of you. It was heaven.”

While the inside is charming and wonderful, the outside is just as impressive, with lush garden surrounds that can be viewed from any corner of the home. The parkland elicits a feeling of retreating through a forest and sinking into the natural beauty of the land.

Tall pine trees watch over the tennis court.

“I grew to love the garden; some of the trees are over 100 years old but my favourites were the magnolia and ginkgo trees,” Morrow said.

“You’re surrounded by beautiful trees where you can watch the seasons pass.”

The property also has a full-sized tennis court surrounded by tall pine trees and a courtyard — just add in some fairy lights and glasses of champagne and voila, a beautiful summer soiree.
