The opportunity to purchase a brand-new dwelling in a location like Red Hill is one that doesn’t often arise. But, on a former government housing site, just across from the Red Hill shops, that opportunity has finally presented itself.
Introducing The Parks Red Hill – a collaboration between two of the country’s most renowned developers Doma and Stockland.
Normally a development on a site size of 53,000 square metres would have around 700 dwellings, but The Parks has just 244 dwellings – 136 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, 83 terraces, 25 blocks of land where families can build their dream home.
Local developer Doma is taking care of the apartments, while Stockland is heading up the terraces and leading the sale of the land.
“The Parks heralds a new and distinctive style of living within a bespoke village in Canberra’s most exclusive suburb,” says DOMA senior development manager David Carey.
“European-style apartments, encircled by landscaped parks, bring a new and modern elegance to the city’s most prestigious address,”
Externally, the apartments respect the residential nature of Red Hill.
Rather than using large glass and steel – typical of the many apartment complexes seen around Canberra – they have been inspired by Parisian townhouses, complete with large recessed balconies.
They also include brick, anodised bronze, vertically celebrated and pitched roofs and dormer windows to evoke a European-style streetscape.
Internally, the layout and functionality of the homes have been carefully considered.
“Offering a sophisticated and timeless selection of both light and dark colour schemes across multiple unit types, The Parks is anchored by neutral palettes and luxurious finishes, including stone benchtops, marble splashbacks, Miele appliances and timber floors,” says Carey.
Likewise, the terraces offer enormous amounts of space in the bedrooms, kitchen and living areas. They also feature Miele appliances, timber floors, either a large balcony or courtyard, and double car accommodation with internal access inside.
And while the terraces will be built wall-to-wall, special attention has been paid to the facades, ensuring they are distinct from each other, so it feels like you’re walking into your own home.
“With this development, we really wanted to focus on live-in owners, hence the low-density nature and thoughtful designs,” says agent Josh Reid of Colliers International.
But, why The Parks? Well, the development will feature a total of six manicured parks on the site.
“Stockland is renowned for their landscaped communities and at The Parks, it’s no different,” explains Reid.
“They will feature children’s play equipment, sitting areas, picnic and barbecue areas and grassed areas for lounging around.
“These green areas help establish a sense of community. Red Hill is already an amazing suburb and The Parks will only complement that.”
The development is expected to be completed in early 2022.
