The future of modern living has arrived in Canberra in the form of new development Sierra in Gungahlin. Made up of 152 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, the fascinating new residences capture innovative design from every angle.
Embracing equal parts of nature and technology, the development – which also offers commercial spaces – is a sanctuary of modern living set within the Gungahlin landscape.
Sierra comprises three commanding towers and is named after the Sierra mountain range for the peak-like appearance of the trio of structures from afar.
The likeness doesn’t end there: Sierra is positioned atop Gungahlin’s highest block, offering breathtaking views from every angle – Black Mountain and Telstra Tower from the south and the Brindabellas from the west.
Just like the undulating landscape of its namesake, every twist and turn offers a unique setting. Sierra offers no lack of choice for every buyer with a mammoth 48 different floor plans to choose from and two unique interior finishes in slate and granite.
Inside the homes, the kitchens are fitted with Franke appliances, and the bathrooms have thoughtful finishes such as matt black tapware and wall-hung basins with chrome tracks underneath for visual effect. And on the outside, there are plenty of nature-filled spaces to stop in and soak it all in.
“Sierra was made for people to stop and spend time where they are,” says Simon McGuire of Sentia Real Estate.
“There are podium-level walkways that run between the buildings, starting six metres above the ground. They’re heavily vegetated and have bench seating, LED lighting, and feature artwork for residents to enjoy. Plus, there are two elevated outdoor common areas in each building that are filled with greenery and have magnificent views.”
Sierra takes a bold step towards technology-driven living and has a drone landing pad on the rooftop, enabling residents to receive deliveries by air.
If that wasn’t handy enough, it’s also located within the heart of the Gungahlin, directly across the road from Coles and next door to the Eastlake Football Club. The light rail is at the development’s doorstep for added convenience.
Although Sierra does come equipped with plenty of unique features, McGuire explains that it was created to be functional and low maintenance to keep living costs down.
“We moved away from resort-style developments because the cost to run restore-style features is prohibiting for first-home buyers over the longer term. After some analysis, we learned the majority of people pay for those resort-style features and don’t even use them,” he says.
“We wanted to deliver something to the marketplace that has good value now and great value later on.”
Sierra is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2023.
