Sustainable living is more than just a trend. Surpassing that of an industry buzzword, sustainability has become an integral part of modern living. But if you’re new to the property market, it’s not always easy to know where to start, or what to look for to ensure your home is ticking all the green boxes. That’s where Verve comes in.
Verve in Taylor is a boutique collection of townhouses coming soon to Taylor, designed and built by local builders PBS, in Gungahlin. Made up of just 28 townhouses, the bespoke development has placed sustainability at its core to create homes that will stand the test of time – and help the planet while they’re at it.
“A key feature of the Verve is that it offers sustainable living to residents,” Sam Howes of Carter + Co Projects says.
“Every townhouse is fitted with its own solar panels and double glazing, and everything is electric, from the hot water system to appliances.”
If you thought electric appliances in the house was as good as it gets, think again!
“A unique part of this development is the garage comes fitted with provisions for car-charging ports. It means that in the future, electric cars like Teslas, which are becoming more and more common, can be charged right there in the townhouse garage,” Howes says.
Of the fit-out, the new development has been designed with intentional architecture and functionality at the forefront. Each townhouse has a kitchen with a built-in wall oven, walk-in pantry and ample benchtop space to prepare on, plus two en suites in the upstairs bedrooms, and a powder room on the ground floor.
“Living, dining, the kitchen and hallways include tiled timber finish floors, so it has the look and feel of timber with superior longevity and versatility. It’s sustainable in the sense that it will adapt with the Canberra climate, and there will be no concerns with high heels, water damage or movement experienced with timber,” Howes explains.
And, a hidden bonus? There is heaps of storage, of course! From the garage to storage under stairs and large pull-out drawers under the kitchen cooktop, the townhouses maximise functionality to ensure anything unsightly is out of mind, leaving residents with plenty of room for all the fun stuff.
Of the location, Taylor is one of the newer suburbs in the Gungahlin area and yet another contributor to the North-Side region’s increasing popularity.
“Taylor is still a growing suburb, located four kilometres from the Gungahlin Town Centre with its major supermarkets, shopping outlets, medical facilities, cafes and restaurants,” Howes says
“It also offers quite affordable living, which is good for both first-home buyers and downsizers.”
Expected completion is mid-2022.
