There have been many listings on Allhomes with impressive Lego collections, but little comes close to this one-bedroom apartment in Bruce, with renovations that match the impressive Lego builds on display inside it.

The unit at 133/1 Braybrooke Street has been owned by Kirily for about 14 years, and while she has only been adding to her Lego collection since 2016, the renovations she has undertaken in her apartment have been a project for her too.

The most noticeable feature of the home is the display shelves she built herself, with new spotlight fixtures shining onto one of two collections of Lego in the home.

“My dad bought me my first Lego set … and when I first saw the box, I thought it would take me a bit of time to complete, but when I sat down and started building, I actually really enjoyed it,” Kirily said.

“The way I describe it to people is that building Lego is like meditation; when I build, I sit down and focus on the instructions, and that is it.

“Nothing else comes into it; I use it to shut out the world and recharge.”

In the bedroom, Kirily also added glass-fronted cupboards displaying more of her Lego collection, while purposefully keeping as much of the floor space and under-bed storage.

“I love storage, I love being organised, and I love knowing where everything is,” she said.

“In a one-bedroom apartment, space is critical, and I have just felt like my main job in terms of making the most out of this space is working out the best storage opportunities.

“In the bedroom, there are shoes and a significant gaming collection under the bed, but you wouldn’t be able to tell if you weren’t told.”

The unit also has a storage cage in the car park, where Kirily stores the boxes for her Lego collection.

As well as making the most of the storage opportunities, Kirily’s renovations have made the apartment more energy efficient while keeping it attractive.

Moving out of the apartment she has put so much love and attention into over the years is bittersweet for Kirily, but there are also benefits to it, too, she said.

“There are going to be lots of exciting challenges in getting this new home anywhere near where I got this one,” she added.

“I am moving to be closer to my parents, but I will really miss the location of this home as well as the home itself.”
