Waterfront properties are hard to come by in Canberra, and even harder in Canberra’s south. But it’s here that they are the most exquisite. Why? Because of their exceptional views, of course.

Waterfront vistas in the foreground are elevated by glimpses of the Brindabellas in the background. And, as we head into winter, I can’t help but be filled with visions of the snow-capped mountains we’re so fortunate to witness here, year after year.

It’s a spectacular sight, and one only a lucky few get to wake up to, day in and day out. 

Grasping perhaps the last of Lake Tuggeranong’s waterfront sites (and those incredible views) is Ellison Waters – a boutique development of just over 40 residences, predominantly townhouses, on the water’s edge.

The collaboration between architect Tomi Milin and developer and builder J&F Homes aims to set a new benchmark for style, space and lifestyle on the shores of the lake. 

“All homes are three bedrooms and two storeys, with options for street or lake frontage,” says agent Ray Lalic of Blue Property Marketing.

“The street-frontage options are split-level on the ground floor. The majority of the waterfront options come with double garages. Some have internal access and others have courtyard access, but it’s all direct.”

The courtyards that overlook the lake also come with a deck to make the most of the waterfront lifestyle.

Imagine stringing up a few fairy lights and enjoying many twilight barbecues out here, perhaps followed by a stroll along the shore as the sun goes down.

To continue maximising the uninterrupted lakefront views, all living areas have extra height in the ceilings. The main bedrooms are also cleverly designed to look over the water and come appointed with walk-in wardrobes and large en suites.

“Some even have bathtubs, which is a real rarity in townhouse developments nowadays,” Lalic says.

Other features include floating floorboards in the living areas and floor-to-ceiling tiles in the bathrooms. In the kitchen, you’ll find stone benchtops, high-end European Franke appliances and induction cooktops. 

Located off Drakeford Drive on the southern end of the lake, Ellison Waters’ location is quiet but close to Tuggeranong’s amenities. 

“Unlike the opposite side of the lake, you haven’t got all the high rises,” Lalic says. “The maximum height here is three storeys.

“There are only three other developments nearby and a neighbouring nature reserve.

“There is already one footbridge that takes you across the lake without having to go up to where the cars are. But as the ACT government plans to finish off the foreshore of the lake, there are plans to put in a second bridge to make accessing the Tuggeranong town centre by foot even easier.”

Ellison Waters launched to market just a couple of weeks ago, and Lalic says interested buyers have come in all forms. 

“There are older couples looking to cash in on their southside homes and downsize, through to young couples looking to purchase their first home,” he says. 

“But what’s consistent amongst them is they all want the lifestyle benefits that Ellison Waters can provide – the lake, the park, the shops – you’re among it all.”

Expected completion is mid-2023.
