This might just be the most brilliant naming venture for a series of developments that I’ve come across throughout my time writing this column. The Connery, to be followed by The Brosnan and The Lazenby. Can you catch the theme here?
Inspired by arguably the coolest movie franchise to hit the big screen, 007, The Connery is just as nonchalant a character as its handsome actor counterpart.
“The title really just came from the developer whose name is Ian Fleming,” says agent Sam Dodimead of Blackshaw Projects.
“If you know the series, you’ll know that this is also the name of the author of James Bond novels, so the developer just saw an opportunity to have a bit of fun with this correlation.
“If you know, you know, if you don’t, it’s still a sophisticated name,” says Dodimead.
Likewise, this boutique series of just 11 three-bedroom townhouses is just as sophisticated. Designed with liveability and functionality at their core, these homes are made to enhance the way you live.
The Connery’s key features include open-plan living areas, sizeable north-facing courtyards, and a thoughtful flow between the indoor and outdoor living spaces, which sees the interior drenched in natural light.
Fixtures, fittings and finishes have been selected to appeal to a broad range of buyers and allow new owners to seamlessly slot in their existing furniture, no matter the style.
Stone benchtops and custom cabinetry in the kitchen, tiled floors to the downstairs living areas and full height tiling to the bathrooms are all standard inclusions.
“Around 70 per cent have already sold, which just goes to show how much this type of stock is sought after right now,” says Dodimead.
“With housing prices busting through the roof, townhouses and large apartments are the most logical alternative to owning a full-sized home, especially for first-home buyers.
“Although, I’m finding more often that buyers are looking for a townhouse because they don’t want the maintenance the comes with a house and a garden. They just want to be able to lock up and leave on the weekends … when we can eventually do that again,” he says.
Situated in Strathnairn within Ginninderry, The Connery is part of Canberra’s first and only six-star Green Star Community, enjoying the benefits – both environmental and financial – of sustainable living, as well as an impressive solar panel system.
Nearby planned facilities include new schools, shops, a heritage farmhouse precinct, community halls, childcare and medical centres. Residents are also on the doorstep of some incredible nature reserves towards the Murrumbidgee River and beyond. Conveniently, it is just 10 minutes from Belconnen and 15 minutes from the city centre.
Completion is expected in late 2022.
