Casey has long provided its neighbouring Gungahlin region suburbs with a bustling hub of cafes, restaurants and shops for those who don’t quite want to venture out into the crowds of the Gungahlin town centre or are just after a humble outing to the local pub or much-loved breakfast spot.

The Casey Market Town is a central meeting point where the community comes together and there’s much to appreciate about the building itself. Designed by Cox Architecture, the project was awarded the top award for the Commercial Architecture category at the 2017 ACT Architecture Awards.

The suburb is named after Richard Gavin Gardiner Casey, an Australian politician, diplomat and later the 16th governor-general of Australia.

There are plenty of cafes to choose from to get your morning caffeine fix. Pick up a delicious pastry treat at Tinker Tailor or head to Pixie and Bear Cafe for Sunday brunch – our tip is to keep your eye on its specials board.

International eats are also covered with Noi Noi Vietnamese Kitchen, Lokma Turkish and Spice Affair Indian Cuisine, just to name a few.

See & do:

The family-friendly neighbourhood has a playground to match. Casey Recreational Park is a cornerstone on the community and an excellent play space for toddlers and preschool-aged children. The spinning climbing frame and pretend cars are a hit with the kids.

You can work off all the foodie guilty pleasures at Anytime Fitness or skip the workout and pamper yourself instead with a hair makeover at Elysium Hair Company, followed by a lash lift at Sundri Beauty & Hair and a well-earned mani and pedi at Idaisy’s Nails & Spa.
