A development that promises a new (or “Nue”) way to live? Colour me intrigued.

Nue is Gungahlin’s latest development by Core Developments promoting walkability and cycle friendliness in one of the ACT’s fastest transforming neighbourhoods.

Comprising 243 apartments, 87 townhouses and some commercial spaces, Nue is designed for residents to embrace the public domain and interact on a daily basis.

Three main public spaces are linked by a “walk street spine” through the residences and alongside pedestrian lanes and pocket parks.

Designed by JUDD.studio, Nue was inspired by the walk streets of Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Envisioning a space that encouraged walking and cycling, where vehicles are dealt with at the edge of the site allowing residents to live daily life at a slower pace with much less noise.

“The attention to detail in this development is incredible,” says marketing and communications manager Sophie Green Moore of LJ Hooker Projects

“It’s built like a miniature neighbourhood with precinct style living. It’s really walkable with lots of little streets and walkways throughout it, all aimed at minimising traffic.”

“There are a number of apartment floor plans to choose from including one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus study, two-bedroom, two-bedroom plus study and a handful of three-bedroom options, all with floor-to-ceiling windows to take advantage of some incredible views,” says Moore.

“One side of Nue faces the Mulanggari Grasslands, so an enormous proportion of them have sweeping vistas across the reserve. Given its protected land, it will also never be built out.”

There is also a small portion of the apartments for which buyers can “choose their own adventure”.

“There is only a handful, but essentially this means the homes are completely empty shells waiting to be designed with our architects according to the buyer’s requirements,” says Moore.

The townhouses, which will officially come to market in around four to six weeks’ time, have two and three-bedroom options across two or three storeys. Some are extra wide to allow for more living space and all have basement car parking as well as a front and rear courtyard.

Sitting atop the development is a stunning barbecue and garden area made for all types of residents to enjoy.

“Whether it’s studying in the sunshine, taking an outdoor break with bub, entertaining the grandkids or having a dinner party with friends under the stars, residents will find commonality in the space,” says Moore.

Situated in between the Gungahlin town centre and parklands, Moore says there’s a balance between urban amenity and nature.

“On the one hand, it’s urban living where you’re among the action, without having to pay the price of living in central suburbs like Braddon. On the other, you’re right next to a nature reserve should you wish to escape,” says Moore.

“You’re right on the light rail should you need it. But you can also walk to all the local shops, which now include some brilliant places to eat and drink without having to venture into the city.”

Completion is expected in the third quarter of 2023.
