When a new development sells 70 per cent of its stock in its first four weeks on the market, you know there’s probably something particularly special you need to investigate.
Calypso is Art Group’s newest release in their Dickson Soho precinct on Northbourne Avenue, offering a range of luxe one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses. And after the successful sale of their Mulberry and Cashmere projects, it’s no surprise that Calypso is being snapped up faster than one can finish the similarly named iconic icy treat.
“It’s their quality and the location that buyers are most drawn to,” says agent Josh Morrisey of HIVE Property.
“Calypso has been pulled together by an exceptional team of experts dedicated to developing inspiring new places to live – Art Group, Stewart Architecture, Darren Palmer, Conrad Gargett, Redbox, and Bloc. It will set a new standard for boutique apartments, offering the very best in outstanding lifestyle, amenities, and community-focused design.”
The amenity Morrissey is referring to includes the private gym, offering residents a place to exert energy and build strength and maintain mindfulness, with all equipment available on site.
There is also a series of landscaped communal gardens and nomadic walkways to meander through across the site. These include open central staircases allowing natural light to flow through the uplifting corridors and incredible rooftop gardens and barbecue areas, providing an oasis to escape to when you need a break from the confines of the home – something we will never again take for granted after the past two years.
Speaking of which, Calypso has also integrated contemporary working facilities into its offering, with a dedicated space to help residents work from home.
“Dedicated hot desk stations offer small cubicles and Wi-Fi for residents to work from home while still being able to leave their apartment,” says Morrisey.
“For our mental wellbeing, it’s important we’re able to leave work at work, so this set-up helps to keep people’s homes as a place of respite, but heading to work is as simple as travelling downstairs.”
Although, when it comes time to head into the office, it could be as easy as a five-minute tram ride, with Calypso situated right on the Northbourne Avenue tramline.
“You can walk into the city in around 15 minutes if you wanted,” says Morrisey.
“Braddon is even closer if you want to dine out for the evening, although there is so much happening in Dickson now that you might not even want to travel that far. Chinatown is getting revamped, and there are so many new eateries and precincts in development in the area.”
“As part of their development application, Art Group has also taken over the restoration and refurbishment of the nearby Hope Street park and playground, which will be great for families and locals.”
The apartments themselves are premium, with new buyers most drawn to their luxurious nature. Three colour palette choices – oak, grey + grey and oasis – have been curated by The Block judge and celebrated interior designer Darren Palmer.
Large balconies open the homes up to Canberra’s crisp vistas, filling the living areas (and their three-metre high ceilings) with plenty of natural light. The penthouse apartments are also north facing, and look back towards Mount Ainslie.
Construction has commenced, and delivery is expected within the next 18 months.
