I often wonder if, decades ago, the residents of Narrabundah knew that their suburb would become one of the most sought-after in Canberra. My guess is, not exactly.
Narrabundah is very much like a fine wine. It might be an overly used analogy, but I can’t think of anything that better personifies this almost inner-south suburb.
(I say “almost” because, while it borders affluent suburbs such as Griffith and Red Hill, Narrabundah has never officially held an “inner south” title, but these days, it certainly deserves it.)
The expansion of Canberra means Narrabundah is now appropriately deemed as central. Get onto the Majura Parkway and you’re in Gungahlin in less than 20 minutes. The city is only about 10 minutes away and even Queanbeyan can be reached in under 15.
With each year that passes, more homes get restored, the trees grow a little taller and the surrounding landscapes (and streetscapes) become even more beautiful.
Flash forward to 2021 and almost every local is looking for a glass of Narrabundah’s finest drop. But nabbing a home in this area – particularly one that needs no renovation – is difficult, to say the least.
Cue Lumeah, a new, high-end boutique development of just 10 four-bedroom townhouses in the heart of Narrabundah.
Agent Nick Huang of Avantus sums up the development as “luxury townhouses that are high quality with a high level of inclusions in a beautiful setting”.
“We are already 70 per cent sold,” he adds.
Lumeah’s vision is to deliver an environment that optimises liveability while maximising indoor and outdoor space to provide quality community living and amenities.
“Each home comes with private courtyards at both the front and rear, which are substantially larger than other developments on the market currently,” Huang says.
“Other key features include high ceilings – specifically, 3.6 metres in the living areas – full-height windows for lots of light, European kitchen appliances, double glazing and under-tile heating in the bathrooms.”
The homes come equipped with two main bedrooms. One is on the ground floor and has an en suite bathroom with a bathtub, built-in wardrobes and large sliding doors with access to a courtyard. Another is upstairs with an en suite, walk-in wardrobe and access to a private balcony.
Residents are also spoiled for car parking space with a double lock-up garage with internal lift access to the home, as well as a third car space in the secure car park for guests.
Light and dark colour schemes are available to buyers. Materials are mainly natural. Stone benchtops, ceramic tiles, engineered-timber flooring laid in an elegant chevron pattern and wool carpet in the bedrooms all come as standard inclusions.
Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.
