When I hear the word “Vivere,” I’m transported back to a time – not too long ago – when I spent every second Friday evening with my nonna producing the Italian Radio Program on QBN FM.
Listeners would often request songs from Andrea Bocelli’s iconic Vivere album. The Italian word translates to “to live” and, if I’m honest, it sounds a little more commanding than its English counterpart, especially when it’s belted from the mouth of Bocelli.
It’s no wonder the team behind the townhouse development VIVERE, in Strathnairn, chose such a name. For living, and living well, is exactly what you’ll do here.
The development is made up of 19 three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses that are due for completion by the end of this year.
“In the current climate, it’s really low risk buying these townhouses off the plan,” says agent Matt Shipard of HIVE Property.
“There’s more confidence because the build is already underway and they’re on track for on-time completion.”
The homes, designed by Alex D’Ambrosio, have been built to ensure there contain as many liveable spaces as possible and make the most of natural light. But what is most interesting about the layouts is that each one is vastly different, attracting a completely different market.
“The relationship with the indoor-outdoor spaces and the relationship with nature is consistent with each home, and each floor plan is really efficient, so there is very little wasted space,” says Shipard.
“But each unit is also unique and judged in its own right. For example, a property that doesn’t have views of the nature reserve is offset with enormous 3.6-metre-high ceilings, so you’re always going to get a feeling of space and natural light.
“What it lacks in one aspect it always makes up for with another. Whereas, often a developer will try and tick every box with every home and so, in trying to appeal to everyone, they end up appealing to no one,” explains Shipard.
“These homes have different floor plans that appeal to different demographics. They’re diversified by age, but they all have similar interests in things like sustainability and nature, which is exactly what the developer was hoping to achieve.”
Like all homes in Strathnairn, Canberra’s only 6-Star Green Star suburb, VIVERE has an emphasis on sustainability.
“The government’s emphasis on better public transport means we’ve recognised there less of a need for multiple car spaces for some of the units,” says Shipard.
“It’s also so nice driving through a new suburb, where solar panels are on all the roofs, there’s no gas and the landscape still feels dense with trees – unlike some of the other new suburbs in Canberra, especially around the Molonglo Valley,”
“All the homes are placed so well into the landscape, that the landscape isn’t completely changed because of them.”
