Just last week, I went for a drive out Murrumbateman way to visit one of our local vineyards for work purposes. While I’ve been out to the region countless times before, especially for the odd wine tour, something about its splendour really hit me hard this time around.
Firstly, it’s just so green right now. When you look around, you’re surrounded by undulating green hills and mountains. If there’s one thing we can thank La Nina for, it’s the colour of our countryside.
Speaking of, the views are insanely breathtaking, no matter which way you look. I had to take my sunglasses off so I could really appreciate just how beautiful the environment is. The air is fresh, and the cool breeze always lingers to cool you down on the sunniest of days.
Last but by no means least, the landscape is exactly what you’d hope to find in the countryside, being a mixture of green pastures and dense bushland. Given how quiet the area is, the local fauna has no problem venturing out in the daylight.
This time I was thrilled to see a plump echidna waddling along the side of one of the back roads, but in the past I’ve been blessed with the company of wombats, kangaroos and even the odd turtle.
A stunning part of the country; we should be so lucky it’s right on Canberra’s doorstep. But for some, this could be the place they call home.
Let me introduce The Fields, the fourth and final stage of a land subdivision in Murrumbateman, located in the heart of the Murrumbateman winery district.
“This is the fourth and final stage of land we’re marketing out here,” says agent Josh Reid of Colliers Canberra.
“The lots we have up for sale are up to 20,000 square metres of beautiful undulating land, some of which have dams and large trees, all of which have stunning mountain views. It’s a magical part of the world.”
Reid says that with so much land and no time frame for the commencement of construction in NSW, the world is your oyster.
“Purchasers can buy a block of land and use it as a vacant site, a hobby farm, a weekend getaway or to set up their dream home,” says Reid.
“In most cases, the building envelopes on each block are between three to seven thousand square metres. There are massive amounts of building space, so purchasers have flexibility on where they’d like to build to capture the best views and the best elevation.”
The land comes equipped with power and NBN connection, as well as a non-potable water supply for use on gardens and the like.
“As part of the whole subdivision, there aren’t just roadways but also really lovely wide walking paths that connect the land in all the previous stages, which residents can use to ride bikes, run or go walking with the kids,” says Reid.
“Another big win for the area is that there is a primary school currently under construction that should be finished in the next few months.”
