“There’s not enough stock to cater to the high buyer demand” is a sentiment that’s been repeated by agents time and time again in recent weeks.
This appetite has continued to push Canberra’s median house price to a record-high of $819,090 and the capital’s median auction prices for houses also at its peak at $829,167 in July.
But if you’re on the hunt for a new home, there are still affordable houses in the capital. You just need to know where to look.
According to the latest Domain House Price Report for the June quarter, the suburb of Banks had the cheapest median house price of $520,000, up 5.1 per cent year-on-year.
This was followed by Macgregor with a median price of $545,000, up 0.9 per cent year-on-year; and Ngunnawal at $550,000, up 5.8 per cent year-on-year.
