Canberra’s reign as the most expensive city in which to rent a house has ended, and tenants can breathe a little easier after house rental prices dropped 2.2 per cent year-on-year in the June quarter.

The latest Domain Rent Report revealed that Canberra’s median asking price for a house dropped from $690 a week to $670 a week, bucking the national trend of record gains. The median asking price for a unit remained stable at $550 per week.
