Where can you find high-end apartments in Canberra?
Buyers in the market for a luxury apartment in Canberra need an agent who knows exactly where the gems are located.
Boris Teodorowych of Boris Properties is undoubtedly the ACT’s luxury specialist when it comes to this rarefied property segment.
And Teodorowych backs up that claim with a pad of his own in the highly exclusive Mercer building in Leichhardt Street, Kingston.
“I can say without prejudice that it’s the best building of its class in Canberra – that’s why I bought in,” he says.
“Where else can you find a high-end boutique development of just 11 large apartments – all of them with three bedrooms – in Canberra? Where else can you find this level of attention to design, to detail, to fixture, fittings and finishes?”
Teodorowych says the best agent to help buyers is one who knows the provenance of Canberra’s high-end apartment developments.
“I have a library of all their marketing collateral and I’ve visited and inspected all of them,” he says.
“Buyers need access to someone who knows when these developments were built, who built them and how they’ve been constructed and finished. Superficially, many look really good, but you need to know them down to the bones.”
Teodorowych nominates a number of other developments that meet the high-quality benchmark including Bridgepoint in Kingston and The Apartments in NewActon.
He says there’s also high expectation around Sapphire on the Kingston Foreshore, and the new Capitol Residences in the city.
What makes a luxurious apartment?
- Provenance. Many large apartments are packed with desirable features, but it’s wise to look beyond the bells and whistles to the achievements of the developers and builders – look at past projects and reviews.
- Location. Never go past the importance of location. A high-end apartment is likely to be found in a high-end location. The Inner South and the CBD, in particular, have a range of options.
- Amenity. High-end apartments often come with outstanding views, be they of mountain vistas or water. However, many focus their appeal on accessibility to genteel neighbourhoods with walkability being the deciding factor.
