The Point Piper home of China Doll’s Steve Anastasiou and his estranged wife Tracey sold on Tuesday afternoon for more than the $9.5 million to $10.2 million guide.
The sale comes a week after local press prematurely trumpeted the sale as a done deal, despite assertions from agents at the time that it had not sold.
Sotheby’s Rick Nolasco and Christie’s Darren Curtis declined to reveal the sale price, but confirmed it sold late Tuesday, with sources saying it sold for more than the price range to an overseas buyer.
The Anastasious more than doubled their money on the residence, having purchased it in 2014 for $4.72 million from Jean Chu, who sold it at a loss given a $5.5 million purchase off the plan in 2003. It was completed in 2006.
The two-level residence with four-car garage, home cinema and three bedrooms was a contemporary addition to the historic estate by developer Jim Lewis, of Byrne Lewis construction company, after it bought the historic Arts and Crafts-style mansion and grounds for $13 million in 2003, converting the main residence into seven apartments.
The Kilmory estate was built in 1915 for surgeon Sir Alexander MacCormick, and was later an RAAF base and a nunnery before businessman Rodney Adler and his wife Lyndi bought it in 1999 for $12 million, on-selling it four years later.
The Anastasiou home hit the market earlier this month amid reports the couple have split, and Steve Anastasiou has since taken up with socialite and anti-lockdown protester Nellie Tilley.
Still in the Kilmory estate, Chanel Korea chief Robert Stavrides and his wife Sarina recently sold their garden apartment for $11.8 million to Alukea Commodities’ David Cobcroft and his wife, Anna.
The Cobcrofts’ purchase price set a record for the estate, topping the $11.65 million high set in 2016 by China’s queen of soft rock, Tian Zhen.
