A Malibu beach house once owned by supermodel Cindy Crawford is on the market for $136 million (US$99.5m), making it one of the most expensive homes for sale in Los Angeles.
Retried hedge fund manager, Adam Weiss, and his Yellowstone actress partner, Barret Swatek, purchased the pad from Crawford and husband Rande Gerber in 2018 for $61 million (US$45m).
Perched on the bluffs above El Sol County Beach, the spectacular 700sqm home features steps leading directly to the sand.
The contemporary Mediterranean-style mansion with terracotta roof tiles has been given a significant upgrade by Weiss and Swatek over the past few years, according to Wall Street Journal.
This included both the interiors and landscaping into a modern Mediterranean-meets-California dream.
The “extraordinary Malibu compound” is set on over three acres of manicured grounds, protected by any rough coastal winds thanks to a small canyon to the south, which also serves as a bird habitat.
Weiss – who is selling because he’s bought a $61 million (US$45m) estate on Maui – told WSJ the proximity to nature was a huge drawcard to the exclusive property.
“You wake up in the morning and you can see dolphins out the window,” he said.
You enter through the front gate to a long driveway that winds past the tennis court and leads to the impressive two-storey villa.
Offering the ultimate indoor/outdoor flow, the main floor is complete with great room, which combines the living room, den, dining area, and gourmet kitchen. There are floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors to showcase the panoramic views and open to the expansive wrap-around deck with fire pit.
The spacious main suite features a fireplace, sitting area, dual spa-like bathrooms and walk-in closet.
There are two additional en-suite bedrooms, a media room, light and bright gym with vaulted ceilings, and fourth self-contained bedroom with its own private entrance, kitchen and bathroom.
Of course, there’s a pool, spa, pool deck and cabana with (another) fireplace to help you ease into enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings.
The property played host to a number of the Weiss and Swatek’s significant life events, according to WSJ. This is where they got engaged, hosted their wedding, and played tennis to pass the time during Covid lockdowns.
