A four-bedroom mansion in South Australia has sold for a sold six-figure sum, but it comes without two key rooms.

The deteriorated Queen Anne in Peterborough doesn’t have a kitchen or a bathroom.

However, at $98,000, which is transacted for in June, the buyer will have change left over to complete a restorative overhaul. Signs of its beauty tease what it could once again become.

The power is also not connected, the listing advises, but the character features and whispers of its glory days are still evident.

“Adorned with intricate details throughout and crowned by a pressed metal tower atop the entrance porch, this substantial sized home was constructed in the 1900’s and is now ready to be transformed back to its original grandeur,” the listing says.

The floorboards and leadlight windows are original, and the new owner will have ornate fireplaces and pressed metal ceilings adorning enormous rooms to consider breathing live into.

“Boasting significant architectural significance, this once grand old lady is seeking a full restoration,” agent Alison Ward from Elders Real Estate Jamestown says in the listing.

Heritage orders will apply to the old charmer, in a town in SA’s mid north.

The listing notes the house does not have a kitchen or bathroom, power can be connected, and the mains water is on, although it needs an update to the plumbing.

Some of the most highly-sought properties in Australia are in the Queen Anne style, taking off between 1890 and 1910.

The architecture signatures include a pitched roof, a handsome porch, dormers (attic windows), leadlight windows, tall chimneys and decorative woodwork.
