Pop princess Delta Goodrem has finally bought her new Sydney home, ending more than two years of trudging the house-hunting trail.
Records show the singer exchanged on the two-bedroom spread in the luxury Darlinghurst tower The Residence in November, and settled on the $4.825 million purchase last week.
It was previously owned by real estate agent Anthony Birdsall and David Wade, who bought it off the plan in 2008 for $2.35 million.
The building designed by architects Scott Carver and Marc Seifert opposite Hyde Park has long proved a popular choice for buyers seeking a lock-up-and-leave lifestyle given the building has a 24-hour concierge, an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium and a lobby lounge.
Among the who’s who of owners are Chinese star Xiaoqing, chicken breeders and thoroughbred racers John and Frances Ingham, and Shanghai-based shipping magnate Shannian Huang, who bought the penthouse in 2013 for $17 million, and is now offering it to buyers for $26 million.
The purchase marks a return to the Sydney property market for Goodrem since she sold her apartment in the Finger Wharf at Woolloomooloo in 2014 for $1.7 million.
The judge on the reality television show The Voice has been a regular sighting at listings in recent years. Initial reports of two years ago indicated that the lower north shore was her preferred location.
After being sighted at a house in Cremorne, she was later reported to be looking at apartments closer to the city.
