Once known for its quiet pace of life, the NSW South Coast haven of Narooma is quickly becoming an upscale holiday destination, with Sydney restaurateurs, new developments, and a changing visitor demographic transforming the once-sleepy town into a fresh getaway.
A new 36-townhouse development is set to contribute to the transformation: Cove will feature two and three-bedroom residences and commercial spaces in the heart of Narooma, with construction due to kick off in the new year.
Located on the shores of the inlet, the development will add a modern touch to the fast-evolving township, says Will Honey of The Property Collective.
“There are two designs – a two and three-bedroom or multipurpose room option – and they’re going to provide that ‘lock up and leave’ lifestyle, where residents can enjoy all the fruits of Narooma in a low-maintenance environment,” he says.
“It’s a unique product that will attract holiday short stays, those looking for a sea change, locals, as well as investors.”
Buyers will find themselves enjoying attractive views from their home located in the centre of town – on a block previously home to free-standing houses – and just a stone’s throw from cafes, takeaways, popular beaches and parks.
Honey says a major contributor to Narooma’s identity shift is the influx of fresh eateries, including those from major NSW restaurant player Merivale, which operates five restaurants within the postcode.
“The Merivale Group has bought up a lot of commercial operations down there,” Honey says. “They’re investing heavily in the area.
“There’s also a new medical centre on the cards for Narooma itself, as well as the Moruya Hospital, which has been given the green light to commence construction.
“So there’s a lot of infrastructure going into the suburb and its surrounds. The area captures [both Sydney and Canberra] holidaymakers, so it’s really up and coming, and this is the first time in a long time that there has been a new project of this calibre being delivered to market in Narooma.”
Cove has been designed by Kasparek Architects, which has taken inspiration from the local area. The townhouses will feature an abundance of coastal influences, from the choice of materials and layout to the finishes.
“We’ll be kicking off construction around mid next year, and then it’ll be about a 12-month build time,” Honey says.
For those looking for adventure or a relaxed lifestyle that includes enjoying beach trips, fine dining and cocktails, Cove has it covered.
And if you can watch Narooma Narooma continue to grow, right from the heart of it all.
