Development applications for the final stages of Wright and Coombs have been lodged this week.
The estate development plans will complete Molonglo Valley’s first two suburbs and include a total of 852 dwellings.
The developments are among 180,000 square metres of land and 4000 dwellings slated for release as part of the ACT government’s indicative land release program for 2017-18.
They are positioned to the north of existing development in Wright and Coombs.
The final stage of Wright includes 212 single residential blocks, four sites for up to 213 multi-unit dwellings, a local playground, open green space and two community facility sites.
One of the community sites is reserved for a non-government school, scheduled for release in 2018-19.
The Coombs development will have 71 single residential blocks, nine sites for up to 356 multi-unit sites, a local playground, open green space and access to the Molonglo River corridor and Coombs Pond.
Land Development Agency acting chief executive Neil Bulless said the layout for the final stages was similar to previous development in Wright and Coombs and consistent with the Territory Plan.
The plans allow for high-density development along John Gorton Drive and single residential blocks further back from the main thoroughfare.
Buildings along John Gorton Drive will be a minimum of three-storeys, in line with the existing limits on the transit corridor.
Mr Bulless said the plans allow for an appropriate level of densification near public transport.
“There is a good mix of single residential block sizes, with the majority larger than 500 square metres, to suit a variety of needs and budgets,” he said.
The development applications will be open for public comment until July 21.
