Does this look to you like the ‘perfect property’?

If so, you would have been in with the chance to buy the cheapest home for sale in Britain.

The little £15,000 ($AU29,300) brick house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, in a historic county with a sweet name which is dotted with miner’s cottages. The price hopes when listed were £15,000, but it sold on August 1 for £40,000 ($78,150), the listing reveals.

The Boldon Colliery cottage is the cheapest home in the UK.

A British property expert told Chronicle Live  before the sale it was an opportunity for a first-home buyer. However, the offering was not without a caveat, as there is a lot to do to bring the home up to scratch.

Listing photos on the UK portal Zoopla show some of the renovation work has been started by the vendor, including painting and wall patching, removal of old kitchen cabinetry, new flooring is stacked in the living, next to the fireplace, at the ready.

Zoopla’s consumer spokesman Daniel Copley said it was the “perfect property” to be customised.

Some of the reno work has been started, as shown on the listing.

“This two up, two down is a great option for first-time buyers looking to get on the property ladder,” he told the British media outlet.

“It’s the perfect property for a buyer looking to make a property their own, just make sure you budget correctly as costs can quickly add up.”

The home is in Boldon Colliery, in the county of Tyne and Wear. The town is a former mining community, which accounts for the majority of its petite housing type.

The home at auction for a touch more than $78,000.

Pleasingly, the property is a one minute to the local pub, the The Colliery Tavern, the Chronicle reports.

The county comprises five districts in England’s northwest and the largest city without the county is Newcastle upon Tyne.
