A celebrity-owned property was the most popular home on Domain for 2022.
Domain has unveiled the listings in each state and territory that were the most viewed, in a year when rising mortgage costs and interest rates did not dampen the desire to browse.
The most-viewed property of the year, nationwide, goes to 2-4 Carroll Street in North Melbourne, Victoria, owned by beloved Aussie actress Sigrid Thornton. It also topped Victoria’s most-viewed property for 2022.

SeaChange star Thornton and her husband Tom Burstall moved into the historic address in 1977 and listed it for sale this year. She told Domain in October that “people thought we were crazy” for choosing the then largely industrial city-fringe suburb.
“It wasn’t gentrified, but we didn’t worry about that. We found this building, and we loved it,” Thornton told Domain.
The elegantly-renovated property – a rare, captivating combination of a single-fronted terrace and a stable conversion – went under the hammer on October 22 with a price guide of $3.8 million to $4.1 million, through agent Nicholas West of Nelson Alexander’s Carlton branch.
After passing in on a vendor bid of $3.9 million, the four-bedroom beauty was then available for private sale but is no longer on the market.
