In regional Australia, a massive Queenslander mansion in the Noosa region with about 6.5 hectares of land has attracted viewers far and wide.

“It is a spectacular property. There is nothing like it in terms of quality on the Sunshine Coast – and not just the Noosa hinterland but the Sunshine Coast generally,” says selling agent Graham Smith of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty – Noosa.

“[The house sits on] the highest point in the Noosa hinterland in terms of elevation above sea level for a home. It’s north-facing, and it has spectacular rural views. Just turn your head to the right, and you’ve got ocean views and views of Noosa Heads.”

The property also offers a heated swimming pool, olive trees, a helipad and a 2000-bottle wine cellar.

It’s currently on sale to anyone with a spare $17.5 million lying around.

“We’re pretty confident we will get it under contract, if not before Christmas, definitely shortly thereafter,” Smith says.

In NSW, 21 Plane Tree Drive, Narellan Vale, was the most viewed. The $1.45 million home with over 900 square metres of land sold in June.

“The house was quirky,” says Darrel Stenhouse of McLaren Real Estate. “It was really tacky, but it got so much interest because of it.

“You’d walk into the front door, and to the right, the wall had been taken down, and it was just a glass wall into the garage with the study area in the garage  … overlooking his cars,” he says.

While the house attracted lots of interest, but most people just wanted to see its odd design choices, like the loungeroom wall designed by street artist Joe Quilter.

“The eventual buyer liked that type of thing and loved the practicality of the extra car parking on a 900-square-metre block,” Stenhouse says.

In Queensland, an $18 million six-room, six-bathroom mansion in Chandler has had eyes on it worldwide, says listing agent Tyson Clarke of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty – Noosa.

“The architecture behind it is unique and executed very well. It’s kind of like a flawless execution,” he says. “You don’t see estates created like this from scratch with everything blended together so perfectly.

“One of the key things there is the whole property is on a single level. It’s a large estate, and it’s all on a single level.”

The house is on two hectares of land and has a barn, sauna, gym and separate guest wing.

Clarke says he’s received inquiries for the 598 London Road property from around the world, with people flying in from every Australian capital city and overseas to inspect it.

Have you ever considered owning a chapel, becoming a cemetery manager, and reecreating it as a gothic-style home? Many people have considered it, with church restorations being a popular trend across Australia.

This 19th-century sandstone chapel in Lawitta was the most-viewed Tassie property on Domain. It is a 35-minute drive from Hobart and does not have bedrooms, bathrooms, or running water – typical of chapels from the 1800s.

It sold in March for $363,000.

In the Northern Territory, the most viewed property was not a mansion or a house; instead, it was a simple one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment located in Darwin City.

This small studio sold for just $180,000 in June and was previously rented out for $300 a week. While the property may be small, it’s right in the city’s centre with easy access to everything.
