An unusual home in Los Angeles owned by TV talk show host Dr Phil and lived in by his son Jordan has been listed for sale with price hopes of $US5.75 million ($8.34 million), according to media reports.
The eclectic five-bedroom residence features guns displayed in the dining room, a staircase that looks like vines, a dripping chandelier, bar stools with antlers, animal statuettes, neon and copious amounts of artwork on the walls.
It was bought in 2007 by the family trust of Dr Phil, full name Phillip McGraw, but he has never lived there and it is instead occupied by his son Jordan, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Outside, the villa offers a long gated driveway, pool and spa, outdoor dining area and neat gardens.
But inside, the maximalist decor combines colours, prints and textures to striking effect.
The foyer with forest-themed staircase and bar stools is watched over by a pair of bright pink lips.
It leads into a dining room with a wall of guns that a spokesperson called an “anti-gun art installation”.
In the living room, a plush blue couch contrasts with heavy red curtains and patterned flooring.
A cinema room boasts both an oversized TV screen and an animal statuette with a moustache.
Upstairs, a billiards table comes with legs carved in the shape of lions’ heads.
Future owners may want to either keep the decor or redecorate in their own style, the listing acknowledges.
“The interior has been dramatically remodelled and updated with eclectic finishes that can be kept or transformed into your own vision,” it says.
Dr Phil’s eponymous talk show began in 2002 after his appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show and tackles tricky topics from his perspective as a psychologist.
His son Jordan McGraw is a singer who previously opened for the Jonas Brothers.
Billy Dolan of agency Hilton & Hyland has the listing.
