Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has flexed his real-estate muscle, buying a lavish estate in one of the most exclusive gated communities in California for a cool $US27.8 million ($AU36.02 million).
Johnson and his wife, Lauren Hashian, quietly bought the Mediterranean-style mansion within Beverly Park, which sits above Beverly Hills, from another Hollywood actor and comedian, Paul Reiser, after they negotiated a few million dollars off the $US30 million asking price, Dirt reports.
The mansion has more bathrooms (11) than bedrooms (six) and sits on a sprawling 1638 square metres of land that also has a separate guesthouse.
The property has a long line of famous owners with the original purchaser Alex Van Halen, of rock band Van Halen, building the home in 1993.
The house is described as a “complete resort” with a list of palatial-level amenities, including a world-class gym, full-size tennis court, an at-home baseball diamond, an elevator, movie theatre and a music studio – installed by Van Halen.
The home, which has red-tiled roof and a series of turrets and balconies, is tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac, giving more Tuscan vibes than typical American estates.
The Jumanji and Fast & Furious star will be greeted with a long, olive tree-lined driveway all the way up to the home, which includes indoor and outdoor pools.
The former wrestler was the highest-paid actor in Hollywood in 2020, earning about $US87.6 million, according to Forbes magazine.
He has toyed with the idea of a presidential run since 2017, with polls showing many Americans would vote for him.
Johnson and his family also have a 45-acre equestrian estate in Georgia, north-west of Atlanta. It hit the market with a $US7.5 million price tag earlier this year.
